Walking into something new.

I needed to get my life a little more organized. I made a big career change.. I changed jobs ... again. I have been part time in the E.R. and decided to go full time. I am excited and scared at the same time. I have changed jobs so many times, that I was hesitant to, but I discovered that I love the changing pace and always challenging day in the E.R. As soon as I would learn a job, and have it down , I got a little bored. But there is absolutely so way you can be bored in this job. The nurses are a great bunch, we laugh (almost)all day. I do feel as though I could do this until I am old and ready for the rocking chair. This is the job that I can go to and then leave it there. My last job, as management, I was forever taking stuff home. You never really feel as though your day is done. I will not miss being on call. The thought that you might have to go to work on any given shift always made me feel as though you couldn't ever exhale and relax.
So here I am, in a new place, and I think I'm gonna like it. I am planning to take my C.E.N. by the end of the year. Certified Emergency Nurse exam. I know that starting soon, I am gonna be studying like crazy again, but I love learning. If I am not challenging myself, then I just get bored.
Then there is my knitting. I put it off for the last week. I was so excited to receive my info on my secret sock partner. I need to find just the right yarn.I wanted to give myself this past week to settle into my new position, get used to the new hours, and just get into a routine. But now with my new schedule, I have the same days off each week I can plan what I want to do. I prayed about this job before I took it. I really did not want to miss church on Sundays. I feel as though I would miss so much and want to be there. I know that God really opened up this position for me. I cant believe that they agreed to let me work every Saturday and have every Sunday off. I know that if I put the Lord first, everything else in my life always fall into place. He is so faithful.
So here I am, with such a grateful heart, ready for the new challenge ahead. Its funny, that whenever I have a knitting project going, that I can look back on that  project and time it to an event in my life.It seems as though my knitting becomes a touch stone for events and prayers that I pray while I knit. Knitting for me is so meditative. So it is fitting, that as I walk into this new journey, I am knitting socks.

2 at a time socks

Now that I am just about done with my sweater, and the 70 degree temps are here, it was time to get ready for my next project. I was at Barnes and Noble the other night and I always have the same conversation with myself...." I have enough kntting books, I'll just look for something else.Well nothing really looks too interesting, I'll just browse the knitting magazines, ( thats not really a book, right?)" Then its automatic pilot. I find myself in the knitting books. I tell myself "Im just browsing.." Before I know it, I'm drooling over something. The last fix..I bought.... 2 at a time socks.....I think I am in sock love. I of course then had to order some 40" needles from knit picks. Woohoo!! This was a good fix. My fiance doesnt even comment, he just looks at me, smiles and rolls his eyes. Am I that predictable?
I cant wait to start a project.I found on ravelry, a group, devoted to just this book, with the author as one of the moderators. I feel as though its Christmas. Who is luckier than me?
I have sooo many ideas. I have a perpetual calendar with different stitches for every day of the year. I want to try this method and see if I can adapt a basic pattern with a new stitch.... The possibilities are endless. I ordered from L.L. Bean the cutest little canvas bag with my initials. I am going to use this as my "sock bag". Life can be good. It doesn't take much to make me smile.
I did read a post by someone who wrote that they can make a pair of socks, using this method in about 1 week. That obviously will not be me, but I can dream. Now if only the house could clean it self and my daughter would take over cooking.......

I did this today too. Made some dog cookies for the furry children. Tomorrow is puppy training class and I thought I'd look like such a good Mom with homemade rewards. Boy did she like em.

The pattern for this sweater is "The Wonderful Wallaby"

I am so tired of knitting this "Wonderful Wallaby," that I thought I'd give the monkey a go at it. It really shouldn't be called the Wonderful Wallaby, and I could think of a few other things to call it. I feel as though this project has taken me FOREVER. I think its socks next.
Today was a productive day, at least it feels like it when I look at my to do list.If just got organized I think I could fit everything in.:) I was looking through all my knitting books and
I saw sooo many projects I want to do, so I think this might spur me on to finish. I hate having UFO's. I cant seem to work two things at once. I gotta finish one before I go to the next. OCD I think.
I did order some great sock yarn today from Knit picks..... I LOVE ordering stuff cause it just gives me something fun to look forward to. I may put in another order in the near future because I did commit to a sock swap, but no date has been set. I have never done one before and I keep checking the forum on Ravelry to see if anything has been posted.
I have also taken the time to listen to a bunch of Podcasts this weekend. I listened to a few from the Knit Picks site. Kelley interviewed two knitting authors and I was so excited to see that I had both of the books. Yeah for me. I think all this knitting and listening to knitting podcasts has been so good for my mental health. I cant remember when I have taken so much time to do the things I love so much. Like a mini vacation.......I should do this more often....

She's had the last laugh.

I think she had the last laugh. I'll knit for humans....they are more subtle.

The truth Hurts

I made this green vest/coat thinking it would be cute for St. Patricks Day. I did finish it in time. Yup. Then I made her wear it. Just look at her face. She was not thrilled. Then she attacked it. She tried to bite it off. Who said animals don't talk.I told my friend," I don't think she likes it" My very honest friend told me, "No wonder, you made her look like a chia pet." Sometimes the truth hurts.lady very annoyed in her chia outfitLady hates her chia pet outfit

I was gonna finish that sweater... really I was

I had all intents of working on my "three season sweater" tonight. My three season sweater isn't what you might think....it's not that I meant it to be a "three seasoner" but it has become one.I am slightly jealous when I look at other knitters blogs and they have pictures of this gorgeous lace and write... Oh that. I knit that this morning in between tv comercials. Or a baby sweater and hat that they whipped up  in their sleep. Honestly some knitters must knit in their sleep. How do they get so much accomplished? I must knit like a slug compared to them... My three season sweater is just what it says.... I started it in the fall, plodded along through the winter and now its spring. Great..... watch me finish that  nice warm sweater just in time for 4th of July.... But wait... that would make it a 4 seasoner, I better finish. That would be embarrassing...
